Stay “tuned” for more amazing musical events
Building up to our school’s OPEN HOUSE this year, we had several small ensembles visiting our local community elementary schools including Greendale, Clearpoint, Sunshine Academy and Westpark, to give a little musical performance and show them all we have to offer at Lindsay Place.
Open House concerts and small ensembles were a rousing start to our concert season, with 80 music students helping LPHS’s Open House have a very musical ambiance.
Students did a four-day Fundraising extravaganza where they bagged groceries at nearby IGA in Kirkland, while community members and shoppers tipped both in spare change and warm compliments!
November is one of the busiest times of the year in the music department. Everyone is preparing their pieces for the December concerts and other events. From 8 o’clock in the morning to late at night, there is always music to be heard at Lindsay Place. Monday to Friday, there are morning rehearsals dedicated to our concert pieces. After school, there are private lessons to rehearse the Étude solo performances.
Not only do music students perform, but we appreciate as well. On November 6th, numerous
students attended the Opera Montreal’s “The Barber Of Seville” at Place des Arts. Every year, students are invited to attend an Opera and that never fails to impress. The stunning singers, orchestra and costumes are enjoyed by all walks of musical preference and this experience helps shape a greater appreciation for our music making.
Our own LPHS Percussion Ensemble appeared as guest artists alongside successful LPHS music grads and established professional musicians at Vanier’s Pay It Forward Concert on November 12th. Featured LPHS students are Liam Murphy, Paulo Ricardo, Zack Quinn-Roberts and Jonathan Desjardins. Professional percussionist Bob Slapcoff was the master teacher behind the success of many of the students and pros performing that night.
To help nurture our Social Awareness: “Henna for Harmony” was launched this year on November 19th, during lunch hour. Volunteers applied henna ( temporary tattoo) at the cost of 2$ a motif (they have a choice of patterns) to fundraise for an Indian music school. (The NGO: “Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya” is related to “Jeunes musiciens du Monde” based in Quebec city.) Samosas and classical Indian music played by the students of the KSV filled the atmosphere.
Our grade 8 music students are planning a Cycle One Talent Show on December 16th at lunchtime. We look forward to seeing them show their talent in a different light !

We are always looking for parent volunteers for various help, such as helping to organize fundraising events, selling tickets at concert nights, donating items and services for raffle, and any other help that may be required depending on the season. We are very grateful for the support and dedication of our music parents. Many thanks to your help so that we can offer a more fun and enriching musical experience!
There is so much more, still waiting to happen- our music students are very dynamic. We’ll keep the school facebook and website current with our happenings!
